Peel the carrots.
Fold the carrots long so they are in half.
Fold the half carrots one more time so that they are in quarters.
Put the carrots in a layer in a refractory dish.

Cut the squash into thin slices and put them in a cold pot with the butter.
Turn on the fire and let it warm slowly.
