The almonds are poured into boiling water for 30 seconds. And is freed from the skin. Chopped very fine. If bitter almonds can be obtained, they are treated in the same way.
The vanilla rods are cracked and the grains are scrapped out. Sugar, butter, egg and vanilla stir well together. Flour + almonds are kneaded well in the dough which is then left cold - like the next day.
With meltered hands, long sausages are thrown into wreaths with a fairly large hole so they do not run together.
Bake slowly at 180 degrees C. alm. Oven until they are light brown and crisp.
