Ingredients for Grandma's Brown cakes
1.5 | dl | Water |
1000 | g | Wheat flour |
150 | g | Almonds, peeled |
20 | g | Potash |
25 | g | Cinnamon, ground |
250 | g | Margarine |
250 | g | Syrup, light |
250 | g | Butter |
500 | g | Brown sugar |
7 | g | Cloves, bruised |
Instructions for Grandma's Brown cakes
To prepare the Grandma's Brown cakes recipe, please follow these instructions:
Butter, margarine, syrup and brown sugar is melted and cooked up quite short and cool then.
Potash is dissolved in a cup of water.
Add rest of ingredients. Roll dough into sausages with a diameter of approx. 4 cm. or in the size you prefer Brown cakes.
Now comes the difficult, the cakes should be cut out.
By hand: Chilled the dough in the refrigerator at least a few hours, preferably overnight, cut in as thin slices as possible.
On machine: Freeze the dough overnight, cut in the desired thickness, my grandmother did it in max 2 mm.
Decorate each cake with a half almond.
Bake at 175 degrees C hot air for about 8 minutes.
Tips:
Yes it gives a great many biscuits! But the dough can be frozen for up to 12 months, so a game may so row 2 years. The dough must be rolled for sausages and cut, since the smulre in attempt to roll it out. Here I come to bake both kg dough, since not all even my biscuit-eating man loves them!
