Instructions for Pastitsio (Baked pasta pie)

To prepare the Pastitsio (Baked pasta pie) recipe, please follow these instructions:

Cook macaroni half in boiling water with salt for approx. 7 minutes. Let it dry off and add 1 tbsp. Oil so it does not stick together.

Peel and chop onion, garlic and chilli pepper and sauté it in the oil without coloring. Add the meat and sauté with stirring until the meat is browned. Add chopped parsley, dill, salt and pepper and cinnamon together with tomatoes. Add wine and simmer the sauce without lid for approx. 15 minutes.

Heat the milk. Melt the butter in a saucepan, stir the flour and beat the mixture for a couple of minutes before adding the milk while stirring. Season with salt, pepper and muskat and cook the sauce for approx. 5 minutes. Take the sauce off the heat and whip 2 eggs in.

Pour half of the semi-cooked macaroni into a greased ovenproof dish and sprinkle with half of the cheese. Whip the 3rd egg into the meat and pour it into the dish. Bring the rest of Macaroni to the meat, stir the rest of the cheese in the sauce over Macaroni.

Bake right at 200 degrees C for approx. 40 minutes and server.

Served with bread and salad with feta cheese.
